Chaiwalas tea café founder Rohit Sharma (also known as Rohit Chaiwala), 30, dies by suicide at his residence in Dausa, Rajasthan, officials and reports say. Police confirm they have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances of his death. Family members reportedly find him hanging inside a room in his home and break open the door after it is locked from inside. He is rushed to Dausa District Hospital, where doctors declare him dead on arrival. A post-mortem examination is conducted before the body is handed over to his family. Local reports indicate Sharma had been dealing with depression for the previous four to five months and was undergoing treatment, though police have not publicly confirmed the motive or exact cause behind the death.
Sources also note that Sharma had shut down the Chaiwalas chain—reportedly consisting of around seven outlets—about six months before his death. In recent years, he increasingly focused on spirituality, including writing books and visiting religious places, according to reports. He is survived by his wife, a young son, and his parents.
