The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepts consignments of captagon, known as the “Jihadi drug,” and large quantities of opioids at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, publicly reports the seizure in a statement issued on Sunday. Sources differ slightly on valuation and emphasis: Premium Times and multiple outlets cite a total value of more than N6.2 billion, while one Punch report also references opioids worth over N6.2 billion, and another Punch headline cites N4.6 billion for opioids. Premium Times further specifies the number of captagon pills found (47,200) concealed in the soap blocks. All accounts describe the operation as an NDLEA airport interdiction involving captagon and millions of opioid tablets.
