Israel’s defence minister, Israel Katz, says Israel has plans to remove Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and is prepared to carry it out “by sea, by air, by every way possible,” but it would require the United States to decide where displaced people would go.
Katz tells media at a conference hosted by Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth that there is “no real solution for Gaza” without “migration,” describing it as a step that would proceed once Hamas is seen as not meeting ceasefire commitments. Several outlets report Katz also claims that surveys indicate about 80% of Gazans want to leave, and that Hamas prevents them from doing so.
