Lexar has announced the Muse ultra-slim portable SSD, positioned as among the thinnest portable drives available. The company says the drive measures under 4mm thick at its thickest point, aiming for a design that prioritizes portability.
Instead of using a standard USB-C port, Lexar’s Muse adopts a different connection approach to save space, following a broader trend in the portable storage market toward more compact designs. PetaPixel and The Verge both report that the SSD is planned for release later this year and will be sold in 512GB and 1TB configurations.
Across the outlets, the emphasis is consistent on physical dimensions and the connection design change rather than on performance benchmarks or software features. Both sources frame the product primarily as a hardware form-factor innovation, highlighting how Lexar reduces thickness even if it means omitting a conventional USB-C interface.
