The floods follow a tsunami-like surge of water and mud after a glacial and rock collapse on August 26 near the China–Nepal border. Several outlets note that Nepal’s rescue efforts continue as officials search for survivors and assess damage. One report also mentions the earlier rescue of a Chinese man found alive inside a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project in Nepal’s Rasuwa district.
