The government cuts the minimum waiting time for booking domestic LPG refills in rural areas from 45 days to 25 days. With the change, rural consumers follow the same refill-booking interval that urban customers already use, giving households a shorter gap between orders for cooking gas cylinders.
Multiple outlets report that the revised rule is implemented by the Petroleum Ministry through state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs). The Ministry attributes the rollback to an improved LPG supply position and a reduction in refill backlogs compared with when restrictions were first introduced. The change applies to domestic LPG consumers using standard cylinders (such as Indane, Bharat Gas and HP Gas), with the waiting period counted from the delivery date of the previous refill booking rather than the booking date.
While headlines focus on the uniformity of the 25-day interval, coverage also emphasizes how the policy works in practice: customers are not required to book a refill exactly every 25 days, only that they can place the next refill order after the minimum waiting period ends. Some reports frame the shift as particularly helpful for larger families and households that consume fuel faster, including beneficiaries of schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
