Actor and EastEnders star Shane Richie pleads not guilty to a drink-driving charge. Multiple outlets report he is accused of driving in Harlow, Essex, on 29 July while above the legal alcohol limit.
Reports also describe the amount of alcohol involved. The Daily Record and other sources cite allegations that his reading exceeded the legal limit of 35 micrograms (or 35mg per 100ml) and that he recorded about 55mg per 100ml in breath tests, according to court accounts reported by the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail further says police were called after an argument with petrol station staff related to vaping, while other outlets focus more on the plea and the charge itself.
Richerie makes the plea during a court appearance described by Times of India as virtual. The Times of India report says he is granted unconditional bail and that a further court hearing is scheduled, with trial dates described as taking place at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on 17 November 2027.
