Snap Inc. launches “Snapchat Plans,” a new set of event-planning features inside the Snapchat app. The tool helps users turn group chat conversations into real-world meet-ups by organizing event details, invitations, and who is attending.
According to multiple outlets, Plans supports planning for a range of gatherings, including birthday celebrations, sporting events, study sessions, and weekend hangouts. Users can send invitations to up to 200 people, track information such as time and date, and view plans in one place within the app. Snapchat also says invitations and responses are handled without users having to leave Snapchat.
Outlets also describe an expansion to the feature set: Snapchat plans to let users create events directly within a chat window in the near future. While TechCrunch and others frame the move as competition with event-planning services, the reports broadly agree on the core functionality—planning, inviting, and collecting attendance in Snapchat. Separate reporting mentions the broader shift of Snapchat beyond disappearing posts, but the feature’s aim remains focused on making group plans easier to execute.
