Hockey India president Sarvanjit Singh Tirkey removes Director General (DG) Dilip Srivastava’s powers, putting his authority in abeyance immediately while the organisation reviews the matter under its bye-laws. Multiple reports describe this as part of a deepening internal rift within the federation.
Times of India reports that Tirkey communicates the decision through an advocate, with a copy of the letter shared publicly. The communication states that powers normally exercised by the DG remain suspended pending further consideration. The president also issues a show-cause notice, according to the report.
The Hindu similarly reports that Srivastava is stripped of all powers, framing the move as an immediate change in authority within Hockey India. India Today characterizes the development as escalation of the existing disagreement, while also pointing to the same suspension of the DG’s powers as the central action.
