Police accounts across outlets say the attack occurs as the nurse steps out for breakfast and is followed to a basement or parking area of the building housing the clinic. Traffic police and nearby staff intervene and help apprehend the accused, who is reported to have tried to flee. One outlet reports the accused traveled from Madurai to Bengaluru overnight, covering more than 400 km, to target the estranged wife.
