Apple is preparing a smart home product push that includes an LG-developed video doorbell, thermostat, and smart lock, along with additional sensors and cameras. Multiple outlets, citing Bloomberg, report the devices are intended to work with Apple’s upcoming smart home hub and other Apple home products, with an event expected around Oct. 13.

The outlets describe an unusual “second-party” arrangement: LG designs and builds the hardware, branded by LG, while Apple contributes to product development and integration. In filings referenced by MacRumors, LG submitted information to U.S. regulators (FCC and UL) for several devices, and Apple is not explicitly named there. Some reporting adds that Apple helps shape design and features while the manufacturing and support work largely stays with LG.

Coverage varies mainly in emphasis—some focus on the device lineup, others on the integration with Apple’s ecosystem and the business rationale for scaling via a partner rather than producing everything in-house. Several devices are reported to support common smart home standards such as Matter, along with connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Thread.

Apple’s hub and related products are expected to launch first, while LG’s smart home accessories are reported to be available later, months after the initial announcement.
