Influencer and actress Anjali Arora becomes the centre of an online controversy after a video from the Nagada Night Dandiya event in Kanpur shows her appearing to confront or speak with the DJ as her viral track ‘Kacha Badam’ plays. Social media users debate whether she is upset about the song being played, as clips circulate from the event on October 15.
Event organisers and their representatives deny any offence-focused motive. One organiser says they were not informed that the track would cause an issue, and accuses Arora of turning the incident into a publicity stunt. The organisers also claim she left early and disrupted proceedings, and they threaten legal action.
In response, Anjali Arora posts videos on Instagram saying she did not intend to insult Kanpur or its people, but objected to how she was treated. She raises safety concerns, describing what she says were troubling situations involving multiple men around her—during pickup, at the hotel, and at her room—and says a girl’s hair and clothes were damaged during the event. She also states that ‘Kacha Badam’ is tied to her identity and says her legal team is handling the matter.
