The UK government updates its travel advisory for Saudi Arabia, telling British citizens to avoid all but essential travel following attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthis in the region. The change expands beyond earlier, more limited warnings and applies across the country.

According to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the threat is heightened against airports, Saudi military and defence sites, military bases, ports, energy infrastructure, and shipping in the Red Sea. The advisory says disruption and cancellations are very likely, including further potential attacks on airports.

The guidance also maintains an additional restriction against travel within 10km of the border with Yemen. For those needing to leave, the UK suggests considering overland travel to a neighbouring country and departing from there. Outlets report specific concern around Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport until it is secured.
