Indian para-archer Sheetal Devi matches the world record during the women’s compound archery qualification/ranking round at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games. Multiple outlets report she scores 704 points, including 32 perfect Xs, equalling the existing world record and setting a new Asian mark. The result comes on the opening day of the archery events, with India also performing strongly in related rounds.

Sheetal’s mark is described as equalling a world record previously set by Great Britain’s Phoebe Paterson Pine (698 in August 2024) and also matching the 704 point world-record figure noted from Paris 2024. One source adds that she improves on an earlier Asian record of 698 set in Bangkok in March 2026 by six points.

India Today and other reports focus on her securing a place in the archery final following the record-equaling performance. Times of India and Free Press Journal also highlight her teammate Payal, a debutant in one account, who scores 675 points and finishes fifth, while India tops the women’s compound team standings and leads doubles qualification.
