The Bahamas Ministry of Health and Wellness says it is closely monitoring a reported cluster of COVID-19 cases in Grand Bahama following a church retreat held from October 8–11, 2026. Officials report that 20 of 112 retreat participants tested positive for the virus using rapid testing.

According to the Ministry, 14 of the positive cases are residents of Grand Bahama and the remaining six are from New Providence. One of the Grand Bahama residents who tested positive has been admitted to Rand Memorial Hospital and is listed in stable condition. Both outlets cite the same event and testing results.

The Ministry also urges the public to follow prevention guidance, including staying up to date with vaccination, frequent handwashing, using alcohol-based sanitizer, improving indoor ventilation, wearing well-fitted masks when appropriate, and staying home when sick. It outlines common COVID-19 symptoms and advises people to seek emergency care for severe or worsening symptoms. Recent years have reportedly seen very low new COVID-19 deaths in the country, following earlier pandemic surges.
