Salmon Group, a technology-driven banking and lending platform in the Philippines, secures $140 million (about PHP 8.8 billion) in fresh financing to expand its lending business and roll out new products nationwide. The company says the funds will scale its “Salmon Credit Line” and its in-store lending operations.

According to outlets, the financing is split between a committed $90 million from investors including Spice Expeditions, WashU and Moore, and $50 million raised through a bond issuance. The reported plan also includes launching motorcycle lending and expanding micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) lending.

While both sources agree on the total amount, purpose, and broad use of proceeds, the PR release emphasizes “doubling down” on growth opportunities and describes the funding sources in more promotional terms. Inquirer focuses more on the operational rollout—new lending products nationwide and scaling existing channels—while listing the same investors and bond component.
