Reliance Industries’ telecom and digital services arm, Jio Platforms, is set to open its initial public offering on October 21, after attracting about ₹2.5 lakh crore in institutional demand for its ₹8,110 crore anchor book, according to multiple reports. Outlets say anchor bidding on October 19 was oversubscribed by more than 30 times the anchor portion offered, drawing interest from a wide range of global and Indian investors.
The demand comes from asset managers, sovereign wealth funds and domestic mutual funds, as well as insurers and pension-related investors, reflecting expectations that the separate listing will provide a direct public-market route into Jio Platforms’ business. The reports also note a grey market premium of around ₹250 per share before the start of public subscription, with issuers and analysts presented in the articles cautioning that GMP is unofficial and does not guarantee listing gains.
Jio Platforms plans to raise about ₹30,213 crore through a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares, with a proposed price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share. The IPO is expected to close on October 23, with tentative allotment on October 26 and listing on or around October 28, making it potentially among India’s largest IPOs.
