The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) postpones the unveiling and inauguration of its national campaign council for the 2027 presidential election. The event, previously scheduled for October 20, is moved to October 26, according to a statement issued Monday by Osa Director, the NDC national publicity secretary.
Director says the change is due to the “tight schedule” of Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, who has an important overseas engagement. The party apologises for any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling and asks party members and supporters to remain focused on campaigning for Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, his running mate, as well as other NDC candidates.
Separate coverage also notes Kwankwaso’s position that the NDC will not withdraw from the 2027 presidential race in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other party. He says he and Obi remain committed to contesting the election, amid discussions in some quarters about a possible opposition alliance to present a single candidate against President Bola Tinubu.
