LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) and Doosan Enerbility are partnering to develop engines for guided weapons, combining the defense firm’s missile expertise with Doosan’s turbine and propulsion know-how. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday at Doosan Tower in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, with senior executives from both sides in attendance.

Under the agreement, the two firms plan to cooperate across development, testing, verification and certification of guided-weapon propulsion systems. LIG D&A is set to oversee work on the guided weapon systems, while Doosan Enerbility will focus on developing the engines that power them. The collaboration is presented as a way to strengthen competitiveness amid rising global demand for defense systems.

While one outlet highlights the companies’ respective areas of specialization and notes LIG D&A’s recent rebranding to reflect expansion into aerospace, the overall thrust across reports is the same: a structured technical partnership aimed at bringing guided-weapon propulsion development forward through coordinated responsibilities and shared development steps.
