Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho says no player is guaranteed a place in the team based on reputation, warning that “untouchable” status does not exist at the club beyond the badge. Multiple outlets report Mourinho made the comments when asked about whether Vinicius Junior’s spot could be affected by Yan Diomande’s recent push for minutes.
According to the reports, Mourinho frames selection as performance-based, indicating that even established stars must deliver on the pitch to stay in contention. One outlet adds that the squad’s current level remains short of where Mourinho wants it to be, suggesting the comments also reflect broader assessment of the team’s standards. While the outlets differ slightly in emphasis—some focusing specifically on Vinicius versus Diomande—the common point is Mourinho’s message that selection depends on form rather than prior status.
