Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated film “Jailer 2” is no longer screening at Canada’s York Cinemas after the theatre chain cited technical problems related to digital keys required to show the movie. Multiple reports say York Cinemas halted screenings effective Wednesday, with an apology issued to moviegoers who were affected.

York Cinemas attributes the disruption to the non-availability of valid Key Delivery Messages (KDMs) from North American distributors, which it says prevented the theatre from continuing screenings. The theatre’s statements also describe that it fulfilled its financial commitments and payments, while the authorisation and delivery process for the KDMs was not completed by distributors. Reporting notes that distributors and producers have not responded to the exhibitor’s announcement.

Some outlets also link the cancellation to the film’s broader global momentum, including references to a worldwide box office run. Other coverage focuses more narrowly on the exhibitor’s technical explanation and the apology to patrons.
