A viral video showing Delhi content creator Amir Shokeen allegedly making racially derogatory remarks toward a tribal youth from Tripura triggers widespread outrage, prompts police action and political criticism, and leads Shokeen to issue an apology.

In an Instagram apology video, Shokeen says the interaction was scripted for humour and that he did not intend to hurt or insult anyone. He asks for forgiveness, including specifically from people of Tripura, and claims he did not even know where the state was located, despite saying the person in the clip was known to him. The original clip is described across outlets as involving racial slurs and inappropriate physical contact.

Regional and national political figures condemn the incident and call for strict measures. Times of India reports Tripura leaders label it a “racial attack” and include a directive from Chief Minister Manik Saha for coordination between Tripura’s DGP and Delhi Police. NDTV reports a minister vows strict action, and NDTV also says police are hunting for him. Free Press Journal adds that a youth organisation filed a formal complaint seeking legal action.
