Texas is without top tailback Hollywood Smothers for Saturday’s game against No. 7 Ole Miss, as the Longhorns’ injury situation worsens. ESPN reports that his absence comes as Texas, ranked No. 19, seeks to avoid dropping a third consecutive loss.
Both reports indicate additional availability concerns beyond Smothers. Yahoo Sports says the Longhorns have five players ruled out overall, underscoring that multiple injuries are affecting Texas ahead of the showdown. With the sources differing slightly in emphasis—ESPN focusing on Smothers and Texas’s near-term stakes, Yahoo highlighting the broader list of absences—the shared core message is that Texas enters the Ole Miss matchup with key players unavailable due to injury.
