Mumbai Indians appoint Kieron Pollard as head coach ahead of the IPL 2027 season, taking over from Mahela Jayawardene, who steps down. ESPN Cricinfo links the decision to Pollard’s long association with the franchise, noting he is part of the Mumbai Indians squad in each of the team’s five IPL-winning seasons from 2013 onward.
Times of India reports that Pollard replaces Jayawardene and highlights his gratitude and his connection to the team, adding that the franchise hopes he can help restore winning form and inspire fans. Yahoo Sports focuses on the broader coaching setup, publishing a full list of the Mumbai Indians’ coach and support staff for IPL 2027, positioning Pollard’s appointment within the wider staffing changes.
