“Saturday Night Live” UK (SNL UK) addresses recent allegations involving Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, during its Weekend Update segment. In material framed as comedic commentary, host Paddy Young references the scandal in remarks included in the week’s sketches.
One outlet says the show “takes scathing digs,” using the subject as the basis for a direct joke. Another emphasizes that Weekend Update tackles multiple high-profile pop-culture and entertainment topics alongside the royal controversy, placing the Meghan Markle-related references among items such as James Bond auditions and a “Glee” reboot. Across both accounts, the common thread is that SNL UK incorporates the allegations into a satirical segment rather than treating them as an in-depth news story. Neither source provides new evidence or investigative detail beyond describing that the show references the controversy and uses it as material for jokes.
