Airlines including IndiGo, Air India and Air India Express plan phased moves of selected flights from Mumbai’s existing airport to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). NDTV reports Air India Express begins shifting some domestic and West Asia services from December 2026, with completion expected during the northern summer 2027.

IndiGo is also moving international operations to NMIA. India Today and The Hindu both say 12 daily international departures will be shifted from Mumbai’s CSMIA to Navi Mumbai from February, covering routes including Bahrain, Saudi destinations, Kuwait, Muscat, Dhaka and Jakarta. Times of India adds that IndiGo’s international flights from Navi Mumbai are set to start in February 2027 and frames the change as supporting redevelopment of the existing airport.

Other coverage places the changes in a broader competitive and infrastructure context. Bloomberg says IndiGo and Air India are expanding at NMIA and moving some international operations there, describing NMIA as serving India’s financial capital. NDTV also links the effort to a “dual-airport network,” citing work by Adani Airports alongside IndiGo to route international services to 12 destinations by July 2027.
