Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accuses the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of putting up “fake” posters in Uttar Pradesh, alleging the aim is to create a rift within the INDIA bloc ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. He links the claim to posters and hoardings seen in Lucknow and other districts that feature Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Sonia Gandhi, alongside the message that Uttar Pradesh “trusts” Rahul Gandhi.

The posters also carry slogans such as “200 seats are our right.” Yadav says the BJP is acting out of fear of a potential SP–Congress alliance and that municipal authorities should take action because the posters were reportedly installed without paying required fees. He calls for officials to be suspended and raises allegations of either corruption or administrative pressure, while also stating that the SP is documenting incidents.

Dharmendra Singh, an SP leader, is quoted arguing that seat-sharing cannot be decided through posters and that final seat allocation would be handled by the alliance’s top leadership and a committee.
