Municipal corporations across Maharashtra announce Diwali ex-gratia bonuses for employees ahead of the festival, with amounts and eligibility varying by city. Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) says it will provide a ₹25,000 festive bonus to regular municipal and transport service employees, along with a ₹6,000 gift for each Asha worker. The corporation links the decision to state-level guidance and says the money will be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts before Diwali.

In Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the BEST undertaking both announce ₹33,000 ex-gratia payments. NDTV and other reports say the BMC bonus will go to 93,509 people, framed as higher than last year, while Free Press Journal reports the BEST payment will total about ₹75 crore for 22,654 employees and be credited on November 3. Coverage also notes eligibility details such as which employee categories are included.

Other cities report smaller or staged increases. Pune Municipal Corporation says it will pay an additional Diwali amount of ₹27,000 this year with proposed year-on-year increases over a five-year agreement. Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation announces ₹15,500 for about 4,101 employees, saying it is up ₹1,000 from last year.
