Samsung is rolling out an upgraded, AI-powered sleep apnea detection feature for its Galaxy wearable devices. Multiple outlets report that Samsung is preparing a new version of the capability that will arrive in November and will extend to additional models and regions.
The coverage links the update to regulatory progress. GSMArena.com says Samsung’s feature was first approved in South Korea in 2023 and later received FDA authorization in early 2024, with the latest upgrade receiving FDA approval in July and a subsequent approval from Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The new version is described as building on prior sleep apnea detection by using AI to count breathing disruptions per hour and improving performance for detecting moderate to severe sleep apnea.
Outlets also differ slightly on the device scope. 9to5Google and Android Police emphasize which, specifically older, Galaxy Watches and the Galaxy Ring will receive the upgrade, while GSMArena.com highlights the broader rollout context, including availability across more markets.
