Long-range Ukrainian strike drones are reported to hit oil infrastructure in Russia, with separate reports describing fires at refineries in Ufa, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, and in Novokuibyshevsk. In Ufa, the Kyiv Post reports a major blaze at the “Bashneft-Novoil” oil refinery and says drones were also believed to engage a neighboring Bashneft-UNPZ plant.
The reporting also highlights what part of the refinery may be affected. Kyiv Post says flames engulfed the L-35 catalytic reforming unit, which it describes as producing high-octane gasoline reformate and hydrogen for desulfurization. Ukrainska Pravda similarly describes an overnight fire at Bashneft-Novoil after drones attacked in Ufa.
In Novokuibyshevsk, coverage focuses on a separate refinery fire. Euronews cites Rosneft information about the Novokuibyshevsk refinery’s annual processing capacity and its role in producing jet fuel. Ukrainska Pravda adds that monitoring footage shows a blaze and says the refinery produces jet fuel, as well as petrol and diesel.
