Union Home Minister Amit Shah says the BJP will implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttar Pradesh if it returns to power in the 2027 assembly elections for a third consecutive term. The pledge is presented as a key plank of the party’s campaign agenda, with Shah linking it to the party’s broader governance and ideological programme.
Shah makes the remarks while addressing BJP meetings in Uttar Pradesh attended by senior party leaders and state officials, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other BJP functionaries. Multiple outlets report that Shah frames the party’s election pitch around Yogi’s record on law and order and development, alongside the Modi government’s national achievements.
Several reports also say Shah attacks opposition parties over issues such as the Ram temple and alleges voter list irregularities. One outlet adds that Shah urges BJP organisational improvements ahead of the election, including stronger grassroots engagement and attendance by party office-bearers and legislators beyond their offices.
