South Korea’s foreign minister, Cho Hyun, holds separate talks with counterparts from Germany and Poland on the sidelines of a G20 meeting in Atlanta. His office says the meetings focus on expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple areas, including defence and economic ties.
With Germany’s foreign minister, Johann Wadephul, Cho expresses hopes for deeper cooperation spanning defence, the economy and cutting-edge industries. Wadephul responds by thanking Seoul’s foreign ministry for preparing for a recent visit by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to Korea, and he signals expectations for more collaboration in trade and investment.
Cho also meets Poland’s foreign minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, discussing follow-ups to Poland’s recent outreach to Seoul. The two discuss cooperation in defence and batteries, and they look ahead to continued consultations. Sikorski additionally requests Korean attention and support for Warsaw’s efforts to join the G20, a matter Cho says will be followed up through further talks.
