Philippine National Police say they will keep pursuing former Bureau of Corrections chief Gerald Bantag after an operation in Ifugao did not result in his arrest. The PNP says it is continuing to follow leads and act on lawful opportunities to bring him before the courts.

The failed operation took place around a poultry farm in Barangay Pugol, Lamut, Ifugao. GMA News Online and other outlets report police did not find Bantag at the site. Rappler adds that the police received information that Bantag was posing as a poultry worker in Lamut, while philstar.com attributes the outcome to statements from the mayor of Lamut.

Inquirer.net and other reports also reiterate the case context: Bantag is wanted over allegations connected to the 2022 killings of broadcaster Percy “Percy Lapid” Mabasa and inmate Cristito “Jun” Villamor. Inquirer.net also states Bantag denies the allegations and remains at large.
