The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) launches a verified WhatsApp service for subscribers to check their PF balance and view passbook information. The service also provides access to the latest five transactions and includes personalised guidance for certain EPF-related requirements. The rollout coincides with EPFO’s 74th Foundation Day celebrations.

Union Labour & Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is reported to have launched the WhatsApp feature during the event. Outlets also frame the move as part of EPFO’s broader digital effort to make routine services easier to use through a familiar mobile platform, aiming to reduce the need for members to visit EPFO offices for basic account information.

One outlet additionally reports an associated measure for small inoperative accounts: for Aadhaar-verified inoperative EPF accounts with balances up to Rs 1,000, EPFO is set to initiate automatic settlement after identity and bank-account verification, with an expectation of around one lakh accounts benefiting. The other articles focus primarily on the WhatsApp functionality and member access.
