Ben Shelton is adding former Carlos Alcaraz coach Juan Carlos Ferrero to his coaching team for the 2027 season. Multiple outlets report that the move is the result of an agreement between Shelton and Ferrero, with both parties described as confirming the addition.
The coverage provides context on Ferrero’s past role in Alcaraz’s career. Yahoo Sports says Ferrero coached Alcaraz to his first six Grand Slam titles before their partnership ended last December, and that Ferrero plans to work with both Shelton and Shelton’s team. The Athletic also places the announcement in the broader context of Shelton’s season, noting that he reached his first Grand Slam final in September but has had limited success against top players such as Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
