Asian Games gold medallist Sarita Gayakwad is accused of being cheated out of about Rs 69.10 lakh in a fraud involving a sand business investment in Gujarat, according to police. Police say an FIR has been registered against Nitin Bharti, who is described as absconding, following a complaint filed by the athlete at Ahwa police station in Dang district.

The reports say Bharti allegedly persuaded Gayakwad to invest by promising high returns, including a claimed monthly return of 4% and repayment of the principal after one year. Police also say Gayakwad was introduced to Bharti through a mutual acquaintance, and Bharti allegedly described operating a large-scale sand business in Vyara with vehicles transporting building material to Mumbai.

Across outlets, the core details remain consistent: the alleged amount, the promised returns, the sand business setting, and the registration of an FIR based on Gayakwad’s complaint. One outlet adds the emphasis that the accused is absconding, while others focus more directly on the alleged cheating amount and the investment scheme.
