Energy company Drax has unveiled plans to develop an AI data centre at its North Yorkshire power plant site. The proposals centre on building new infrastructure in what the company and partners describe as a next phase for the location.
One report says Drax’s FTSE 250 owner has struck a deal involving infrastructure investor Brookfield and AI infrastructure platform Radiant, with a project scale aimed at a gigawatt-plus eventual capacity. It also suggests an expected start date by early 2028. Another outlet focuses on the land footprint, describing the plans for a specific area on the site, and frames the announcement primarily around the redevelopment opportunity at the former power station.
