Madhya Pradesh IPS officer Anurag Sujania resigns days after being removed as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sagar, as an ongoing investigation into a hooch tragedy continues in the district. The Hindu says Sujania’s resignation comes days after his transfer, following the October 27 removals of Sujania and Sagar Collector Pratibha Pal, more than a month after a hooch tragedy killed over 25 people.
Times of India reports Sujania quits four days after the transfer from Sagar, attributing the resignation to personal reasons. It links his posting change to the Banda hooch tragedy probe and notes internal police frustration over the abrupt transfer decision.
Free Press Journal also says Sujania resigns four days after removal as Sagar SP, again citing personal reasons. It adds that his transfer is to Police Headquarters in Bhopal as Assistant Inspector General (AIG), that he served nearly six months as Sagar SP, and that a meeting between the Chief Minister and senior police officials is scheduled.
