India’s central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has constituted a Technical Consultative Committee for Financial Markets to advise on how Indian financial markets function and how liquidity and market infrastructure can be strengthened.

According to the reports, the committee acts as a forum for discussions with market participants and focuses on areas including money markets, government securities, foreign exchange markets and related derivatives, as well as the infrastructure that supports trading, clearing, settlement and reporting. The initiative is framed as responding to evolving financial-market conditions and policy shifts, with the committee expected to meet at least quarterly.

Outlets describe the committee primarily in terms of its mandate and coverage. One outlet adds specific membership details, naming external participants from banks and market institutions and noting that the committee is chaired by an RBI deputy governor responsible for financial markets regulation. Another outlet highlights the chair’s identification by name, while keeping the rest of the scope broadly aligned with the others.
