Meta is reportedly in talks over a voluntary exit programme for employees at its French operations, as large technology firms use buyouts and related support to reduce headcount. Coverage says the company is considering a plan that could involve about 100 employees within a French workforce of roughly 300.
The reported terms, described by one outlet, would provide severance of up to 2.15 months’ salary for each year of service, along with up to ten months of paid mobility leave at 80% of gross pay. The package is described as subject to a final agreement, and the scheme is linked to France’s rupture conventionnelle collective (RCC), a collective termination procedure rather than individual opt-in decisions.
In context, outlets also point to similar voluntary exit or buyout offers by Microsoft and Google. Microsoft’s offer is described as covering eligible employees at specified levels across multiple countries, while Google is said to have expanded voluntary buyouts to additional countries as AI-related costs rise. Some coverage also notes separate reporting that a Delhi police FIR was registered involving Meta’s platforms and alleged child sexual exploitation material.
