Perplexity has launched “Teammates,” a set of always-on AI agents designed to handle ongoing tasks for users in work settings. The agents are given roles, a standing brief, and rules for when they bring the user in, and they can work proactively using tools and permissions available through Perplexity’s “Computer” system.
The new agents maintain a persistent thread in the app, can collaborate with other Teammates, and can message colleagues in Slack. Perplexity says they can carry over projects, skills, and memory from existing Perplexity tools, including automations that keep work moving. The company also frames the launch as part of a broader competitive push against other emerging “AI agent” products.
Coverage also emphasizes availability and cost. Perplexity says Teammates are available now on the web for subscribers of its $200-a-month Max plan, with additional details indicating mobile and desktop versions are coming later. Outlets differ mainly in how much they stress the agent “coworker” concept versus pricing and placement in the wider race for work-focused AI agents.
