U.S. House Republican committee leaders ask Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to attend a closed-door briefing after reports raise concerns about possible Chinese intelligence links involving a business contact. The lawmakers request that Huang appear before multiple committees on Nov. 18, focusing on his dealings with Alice Huang, described in a Nov. 5 release as a publicly reported People’s Republic of China intelligence asset.

The reports cited across outlets say U.S. officials, including intelligence agencies, concluded that Alice Huang was passing information to Beijing, and that surveillance indicated contact with Huang. The New York Times adds that officials briefed President Trump about the matter roughly a year earlier and that no charges have been brought against Alice Huang or Megaspeed. Nvidia says Huang’s interactions with Alice Huang are not unusual or unexpected. Outlets also note the lawmakers want to understand Nvidia’s security protocols related to foreign espionage.
