The Philippine Coast Guard is responding to a reported oil spill off Mariveles, Bataan. The spill is said to involve about 25 liters of crude or used oil and to spread across roughly 500 square meters of coastal water before containment measures were put in place using oil booms.

Alongside the PCG’s response, Mariveles local officials investigate the incident. The municipal agriculture office is checking reports made by fishermen and has not yet determined the source of the oil slick. While one outlet focuses on the PCG’s actions and the spill’s extent, another emphasizes the local probe into where the oil originated, and a third reports the basic incident details attributed to the coast guard.
