A man is arrested in Navi Mumbai after police say he barged into his former girlfriend’s home and fired at her and her elder sister, injuring both. Reports say the incident happened late Thursday evening in Koparkhairane’s Sector 1, with police responding and the injured sisters taken to a Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) hospital.

Police say the 20-year-old woman suffered a bullet injury to her back and her sister, aged 22, was hit after a bullet grazed her near the ear as she tried to intervene. Multiple outlets identify the accused as 21-year-old Arjun Subhash Chavan/Arjun Chavan. Several reports cite police statements that the probe includes determining motive, with one outlet adding that police suspect the attack is linked to the breakup about six months earlier.

The accounts differ most on the firearm. One outlet reports that police recover a “country-made pistol” and arrest a 27-year-old man allegedly found with it, while another says the pistol remains untraced and investigators are searching for a relative the accused claims received the weapon during his escape.
