Baxters is recalling a batch of its Chef Selections Cullen Skink soup after a manufacturing fault raises concerns the tins could swell, rupture and cause the soup to spoil. The food regulator warns customers to dispose of affected cans and not to eat them.
The issue is described as potentially affecting cans that “swell and potentially rupture.” Spoilage is also linked to an unpleasant odour and flavour. Metro and the FSA advise consumers in England and Wales to throw away the whole can without opening it, placing it in a bag for disposal in an external bin. People seeking replacements are directed to Baxters customer care.
Outlets agree the recalled product is Baxters’ smoked haddock chowder and that the concern relates to a specific batch. Some reports include detailed identification information such as the batch code and “best before” date, while others focus more generally on the recall and the safety risk.
