Ahead of the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, district and election officials in Thane and Panvel hold meetings with election stakeholders to coordinate the exercise and fix timelines. In Thane, the meeting is chaired by District Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Srikrishna Panchal, with district election officials and representatives of recognised political parties. Officials review administrative preparedness, voter verification arrangements, political party participation, online mapping progress, booth-level agent deployment, and polling-station structures.
In Panvel, preparatory discussions are held under the guidance of Additional District Election Officer Mangesh Chitale and Electoral Registration Officer Pawan Chandak for the 188 Panvel Assembly constituency. Election officers outline door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers from June 30 to July 29, 2026, covering household visits and enabling voters to update details such as names, addresses, and photographs. The process also includes identifying entries for deceased voters, migrants, and duplicate registrations.
Both reports outline that training and preparation, printing of documents, and rationalisation of polling stations are scheduled before publication of draft rolls in August 2026. Claims and objections are accepted after the draft publication, with final electoral rolls expected in October 2026. The qualifying date for revision is set for October 1, 2026.
