World champion Oblique Seville wins the men’s 100 metres at the JAAA national championships at Kingston’s National Stadium. He runs 9.95 seconds in the semi-final, finishing fastest among the qualifiers and easing past competition after being challenged early by teenager Gary Card, who clocks 10.07 seconds to also make the final. In the other semi-final, Ackeem Blake runs 10.05 seconds to win ahead of Nishion Ebanks, who posts a personal best of 10.18 seconds. Other finalists include Rohan Watson (10.12), Javari Thomas (10.27) and Bouwahjgie Nkrumie (10.14). In the final, Seville improves to a world-leading 9.82 seconds to take his first national 100m title. Gary Card finishes second in 9.93 seconds, a national under-20 record, while Ackeem Blake places third with a season’s best 9.94 seconds. The result replaces Kayinsola Ajayi as world leader, and Card’s 9.93 breaks the previous national junior record of 9.99 set by Nkrumie in 2023.
