The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through its Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) in Banga, South Cotabato, confirms the rescue of a juvenile Brahminy Kite (Haliastur indus). According to DENR-12 officials, personnel from DENR-CENRO Banga receive the raptor from barangay officials of San Vicente on Saturday. DENR-12’s Maria Elvira Lumayag, officer-in-charge regional executive director, states the rescue is part of the agency’s wildlife rescue and conservation efforts. After the handover, the juvenile bird is transferred to the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center (RWRC-12) in Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat. There, it is set to undergo further evaluation and receive proper care and rehabilitation. The reports characterize the animal as a juvenile and identify it as a Brahminy Kite, also referred to as a sea eagle in some local descriptions. The DENR continues to manage the case through its wildlife rescue system, including assessment and rehabilitation at the regional center.
