Mumbai marks the 12th International Day of Yoga with multiple community and institutional programmes across the city, alongside wider celebrations by Indian missions abroad. In Malabar Hill, Priyadarshini Park hosts a “Sea-Side Yoga Utsav 2026” drawing more than 2,000 participants, including NCC cadets, Coast Guard personnel, senior citizens and specially-abled participants. The gathering is held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” and features a mass pledge encouraging participants to adopt healthier lifestyles and keep surroundings clean, alongside an environmental responsibility message. Other Mumbai venues see major turnouts as well: yoga sessions are attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Worli, and events are also held at Arya Samaj in Fort and at the Nehru Science Centre in partnership with the Central Ayurveda Research Institute and medical colleges. Political leaders, community members and diplomats participate in different sessions, including a programme hosted by the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai. Internationally, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations coordinate celebrations at more than 2,500 locations worldwide through 210-plus Indian missions, with events in countries including the United States, the UK, Germany, Sweden, China and Canada.
