Police in Eastern Visayas say the two student attackers in the Tacloban City school shooting planned the attack weeks before it occurred. In reports from Inquirer.net, the Police Regional Office Eastern Visayas (PRO 8) states that the assailants, both Grade 9 students aged 14 and 15, prepared for the incident prior to Monday’s attack at San Jose National High School. Police also say one of the teens allegedly trained at a firing range, indicating prior handling or familiarity with firearms.

Authorities are still working to determine the attackers’ motive. While police have cited bullying as a possible factor, they have not concluded on a definitive reason. The police account also mentions “online influences” as something they are considering, but they describe motive investigation as ongoing.

Across the reports, police confirm that the shooting results included the deaths of at least three students and injuries to several others, following the attackers’ opening fire inside the school premises.
